Mrs. Bordi's English 10 classes studied the Johnstown Flood using a short story, several news articles, and historical accounts. Part of understanding the Flood was looking for the the unsung heroes who helped, even though history may not remember those individuals as well as others. The students all thought Hettie Ogle was the most significant unsung hero as the telegraph operator who remained at her post to warn Johnstown. Classes used a morse-code key to try and decipher telegraphs in a Gallery Walk to better understand the challenges of this mode of communication. barnesTristan Barnes
